Sweating is one of the best ways to naturally detoxify the body. Infrared saunas have been proven to be superior even to regular saunas in ridding the body of toxins because the infrared rays penetrate at the cellular level. Here at DTX Cellular Evolution, we have chosen Clearlight Full-Spectrum Saunas because of their ability to emit near, mid and far infrared wavelengths. This type of infrared sauna of provides a much wider range of benefits than most regular infrared saunas that only typically use a far wavelength.

Full Spectrum Infrared Sauna vs. Traditional Sauna

Infrared saunas use infrared light, which emits gentle and therapeutic heat to relax and detoxify the entire body. These are the same rays that the sun emits without the harmful UV rays. Infrared rays are healthy and natural rays of light that have the power to penetrate skin, revitalize cells, and release harmful wastes that have accumulated over time. There are 3 wavelengths emitted – near, mid, and far with far wavelengths being the most intense. Temperatures inside infrared saunas ranges from 110 to 150 degrees F and operate at a lower temperature than traditional steam saunas, which can reach up to 200 degrees F. This makes the experience comfortable and dry rather than humid and very hot, which can be stifling for those who are sensitive to heat. Traditional saunas heat the air by creating a hot steam from pouring water over the hot stones, but infrared saunas directly warm the skin, causing the skin to absorb the light and heat. The extremely hot air in a traditional sauna can be uncomfortable for many people, prompting them to exit the sauna early before the full benefits of detoxification and rejuvenation can be revealed.

With an infrared sauna, the healing infrared light and heat penetrates the body more deeply so you sweat more, but at a lower temperature. This makes it possible for individuals to spend more time in an infrared sauna to produce sweat, burn calories, and boost the metabolism. Both an infrared sauna and traditional steam sauna raise core body temperature, which prompts the body to start the cooling process i.e. sweating! Our bodies transport blood closer to the surface of our skin and open up pores to release sweat, which is a mix of mostly water, salt, and toxins. Sweating is an important part of the detoxing process, but you lose body water so it’s important to stay hydrated before and after a sauna session.

What You Can Expect from an Infrared Sauna Session

At DTX, we recommend staying in our infrared saunas for 30-45 minutes, but we give you the sauna room for a full hour so you have time to shower with our complimentary organic shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. During your session, you’ll start to sweat, experience clarity of mind, and your body will start to relax. Since the heat from the infrared sauna heater raises your body temperature, your metabolic rate increases so you’ll notice your heart beating faster. That’s normal! Our sauna rooms are 100 percent private, so you can wear a bathing suit or nothing at all. We provide you with fresh towels, and you’re welcome to relax, meditate, or read a book during your session. You can use our infrared saunas as often as you’d like and step outside briefly if you need to take a break.
