HEALTHY VEGAN HALLOWEEN RECIPES – Take The “Trick” Out Of Treat!
Holiday traditions are not only fun, they’re an important way to bond with family and friends year after year. This Halloween, play a round of apple bobbing with fresh apples and conclude with a healthy, vegan, Halloween Candy Caramel Apple recipe.
CANDY CARAMEL APPLES
(“Healthy Halloween Treats,” inspired by Dr. Ritamarie)
Ingredients:
1 cup dates (pitted and unsoaked)
1/4 – 1/2 cup almond milk (or coconut milk other nut milk or of your choice)
1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
1 dash sea salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract, or 1 inch vanilla bean, scraped
3-4 apples, depending on size
Preparation:
1. Mix all ingredients (except the apples) in a blender until smooth.
2. Start with 1/4 cup almond milk or other variety and add until consistency is such that apples can be dipped.
3. Insert a popsicle stick into the center top of each apple.
4. Dip in caramel sauce.
5. Refrigerate until caramel solidifies
We love these raw, candy treats. With cute Halloween shapes, they can be wrapped individually or spread on a Jack-o-lantern platter to add big grins to your party.
PEPPERMINT PATTIES
(Inspired by “The Live Food Factor,” Susan E. Schenck, Victoria BidWell)
Ingredients:
For the Chocolate, blend in food processor until creamy:
2 avocados
1 cup raw cacao powder
1/2 cup raw coconut butter
1 cup maple syrup, raw agave (or honey for a vegetarian option)
For the White minty layer, blend in food processor:
3 cups shredded dehydrated coconut (raw if possible)
1/3 maple syrup, raw agave (or honey for a vegetarian option)
1 drop of pure organic peppermint oil
Preparation:
1. Spread a thin layer of coconut mix for the peppermint part on the bottom of a container like a pie dish or in small store-bought molds
2. Top it with a thin layer of chocolate
3. Freeze
4. Use Halloween shaped cookie cutters to create frighteningly delicious and healthy vegan candy (you can flip them over once cut and top another layer of chocolate and refreeze)

BANANA GHOSTS

Ingredients:
Bananas
Lollipop or popsicle sticks
Chocolate dipping sauce
Preparation:
1. Cut bananas in half
2. You can cut the bottom of each banana half in a zig-zag design so that it looks like the bottom of a ghost
3. Push a stick carefully through the middle of the banana lengthwise, far enough so that there is a big enough handle to hold while eating
4. Place bananas on a cookie sheet or other tray large enough to hold them.
5. Use one of the sticks to carve out eyes and a mouth
6. Fill the eye and mouth holes with chocolate dipping sauce and place the tray in the freezer
For the Chocolate Dipping Sauce, blend in food processor until creamy:
2 avocados

1/2 cup raw coconut butter
1 cup maple syrup, raw agave (or honey for a vegetarian option)

CHOCOLATE SPIDERS
(“Healthy Halloween Treats,” inspired by Dr. Ritamarie)
Ingredients:
1/8 cup unrefined raw coconut oil
1/4 cup raw, organic coconut butter (Artisana brand)
1/2 cup raw cacao powder
1/4 cup maple syrup, raw agave (or honey for a vegetarian option)
1/4 cup water or nut milk
Preparation:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Add more water or nut milk if it is too thick
2. Copy a spider shape that you like as many times as possible on a piece of paper (or you can use a small store-bought mold).
3. Place paper on a cookie sheet and place wax paper over it
4. Fill pastry bag with chocolate sauce and trace the spider shapes with the chocolate
